History of PROBE GOLF

"I started Probe Golf in January of 1987, specializing in custom fit iron sets. Although PING claimed at the time that they made custom fit iron sets, every set they made used the exact same iron shaft, which fit no one! Really, NO ONE! After I learned all about the differences in shaft flex, flex point location, and torque, I started making much better custom fit iron sets. For the entire story, read my book at www.lovewasnotenough.com.

"I had played golf for twenty-two years, and had never made a hole-in-one. Two months after making myself my first set of PROBE irons I made my first hole-in-one, a 5-iron over water on a 195 yard hole. One month later I holed out a 2-iron on a 222 yard hole. Hundreds of amazing success stories like mine are available if I had time to relate each story.

"In January of 1991 PROBE entered the driver market. Every major manufacturer made its metal driver heads with a 16-inch radius bulge (toe to heel curvature; with the same radius as a circle with a radius of 16 inches). Their roll measurement, from top to bottom on the face was "infinite", completely flat.

"Our first PROBE driver faces had 10 inches of bulge and 10 inches of roll. Our more curved faces added 30 yards to every drive. Johnny Miller was one of the first tour players to try the PROBE drivers, and ended up asking me to send him one dozen PROBE driver heads each month for the next year!

"Chi Chi Rodriguez received the first PROBE driver on the Senior Tour in April of 1991, and won four tournaments the first three months he used it. In the next three years twenty-three Seniors won on tour with a PROBE. It took the rest of the industry three years to copy PROBE driver faces!

“In 1992, I obtained four patents on what I predicted would be the best golf putter in the world. I signed a marketing agreement with a marketing group out of New York, and gave them control over my invention for the next five years.

"They invested $1,000,000 in my new golf putter to produce a 30-minute infomercial and airing their infomercial nationwide. They sold 125,000 putters for $120 each, plus shipping, grossing over $15,000,000! Marketing my new putter technology through the infomercial and making some fast money was their only goal. They were not interested in introducing the putter to professional golfers.

"Starting in 1997, I began buying back control of my invention. In 2003 I bought a home computer and set up my email address at www.probegolf.com.

" I started receiving emails from all over the world from golfers who had purchased my putter from the infomercial, asking where they could get another one. I could not help them out at the time!

"Today, after years spent gaining control over my original invention, I now own the company that made my putter. I now intend to reach my original goal of making the PROBE putters the most played golf putter in the world. If a tour professional uses the PROBE, it will be because he knows it is the best golf putter for him to use.

"In May of 2010 I predicted that Phil Michelson would not pass Tiger Woods as the Number One player in the world that year because Phil could not make those short, difficult breaking putts. I was right. When I tried to contact Phil and let him try my putter, which lets each user take the guesswork out of making those short, difficult breaking putts, Phil’s attorney threatened me, and told me not to try to contact Phil, saying Phil was under contract to Callaway, and had to play a Callaway putter!

"That’s how the professional golf tours operate, and it is unfortunate that the public thinks tour stars really play what they think is the best equipment!

"As of January, 2011, we have made a major improvement in the torque (twisting capability) of our inverted putter shaft, enabling golfers to put side-spin on the ball to negate the break in short, breaking putts. This is a first in the world of putting! The straigher a putt, the easier it is to make, and the more a putt breaks, the tougher it is to make. PROBE has taken the guesswork out of breaking putts.

"Take a look at the PROBE "Crib Sheet" in the INSTRUCTION SECTION of this website, to get an idea how the PROBE lets you take the guesswork out of making those tough breaking putts! And, "YES", the PROBE conforms with USGA rules!

"Now I look forward to letting all golfers, amateurs and professionals alike, learn why my putter is the best performing putter of all time!”
